Think of every sports cliché ever given about underdogs prevailing. From “every dog has its day” to “that’s why they play the game.”

Think of all the motivational speeches ever muttered in an attempt to motivate underdogs and worst-to-first finishes, and throw them out the window.

That’s basically how the Southeastern Conference White Division boys tennis championships unfolded on Wednesday at Dexter High School, with top-seeded players and teams ruling the day.

Chelsea entered the day unbeaten in SEC White play, and after winning six of eight flights and finishing runner-up in the other two, the Bulldogs took first place with 30 points on the day.

The top finish, combined with its undefeated record against division opponents during the regular season, secured the league title for Chelsea for the second consecutive year.
