The Dexter High School boys basketball team didn't find its top form until the second half, but Dreadnaughts big man Dave LaMore terrorized an undersized Lincoln team all game.

Lincoln scored the first bucket of the second half, cutting Dexter's lead to five, but Dexter then held the Railsplitters scoreless over the next 10 minutes of the game and ran away with a 52-34 home win in the first Southeastern Conference competition for both White Division schools.

"At halftime we weren't really satisfied with what we were doing," said LaMore "We knew we were in a good position and we wanted to make sure in the first couple minutes (of the second half) we pushed it at them."

The Railsplitters (1-2, 0-1 SEC) had no answer for LaMore in either half. LaMore had a game-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and helped give the Dreadnaughts a 19-10 advantage on the boards.

"There's one thing I can say about that big guy," Lincoln coach Mike Foley said with a grin on his face. "I can't wait until he's gone.

"He's a great kid, a great player, and they utilize him well. When he seals you in and gets in position, you just go back in transition because he's gonna score."

The game see-sawed back and forth in the first quarter, until LaMore scored three straight baskets for Dexter-two dunks and a jumper-to give Dexter some breathing room.

"I was really happy with my teammates, they did a real good job finding me," LaMore said. "We've been working at practice on the high-low, and I'm thanking them like crazy."

Dexter (2-3, 1-0 SEC) seemed to have Lincoln on its heels in the second quarter, but the Dreadnaughts couldn't capitalize, hurting themselves with turnovers. And after losing two games earlier this season in the final seconds, the Dreads were in no mood to play another close one.
