Dexter girls basketball still perfect after blowout of Lincoln Park

By Angela Cesere

Eleven players scored for the Dexter High School girls basketball team in a 46-14 blowout win against Lincoln Park on Thursday afternoon.

"I always think it’s a bonus, everyone scored tonight,” said Dexter coach Mike Bavineau. “Everybody has worked hard and if we compete and work hard in practice, everybody gets to play."

The Dreadnaughts (6-0) held Lincoln Park to five points in the first half, including a single free-throw in the second quarter.

"We just played good defense, we kept them in front of us and forced them to shoot contested shots,” said Bavineau.

Polly Washabuagh led the way for Dexter with 10 points while Makenzie Svihra had seven points.

Dexter returns to the floor on Friday when they face South Lyon at 4:30 p.m. It will be the final game for Dexter at the Dexter Holiday Tournament.

Bavineau said his team was excited for the chance to go unbeaten in the invitational, especially since it’s being played on its home court.
