“Adrian is a team that I knew would be close,” Dexter coach Shane Rodriquez said. “I was missing my 189-pound starter. With that kid missing, it was going to be closer. I’m really proud of the way the kids wrestled without having our complete lineup.”

Adrian had a 5-3 edge on pins and won eight matches to Dexter's six.

Jeff Root (171), Anthony Chisolm (140) and Alex Sloan (125) all won their bouts for the Dreads over the Maples with pins. Ted Gramatico (130) and Steve Bleise (103) each beat their Maples opponents by major decision.

Dexter’s Drew Barnes, wrestling in the 152-pound weight class, won both of his bouts by decision and was the only Dreadnaught to win against the Kicking Mules. Barnes defeated Bedford’s Chaz Hudson by a 2-0 decision and Adrian’s Matt Galvan 5-3.

It was Barnes' 98th and 99th varsity wins.

“This weekend, if things go well, he’ll get his 100th victory,” Rodriguez said. “He won two tough matches today.”

SEC Quad at Skyline: Chelsea goes 2-0, Ypsilanti, Skyline, Huron 1-1 at Skyline's first home meet. (Rest of the Story | Results)
