The judges came to town Tuesday night, and the Father Gabriel Richard student section put on quite a show.
The MHSAA stopped by Gabriel Richard for the Irish’s game against Madison Heights Bishop Foley, to judge the student section in its "Battle of the Fans" contest. Gabriel Richard is one of five finalists.
On beach night, the students dressed in Hawaiian shirts and leis and pulled out all the stops. That included, dancing, singing, chanting, surfing and a ride on the “fan coaster.”
There’s even Moses, parting the student section to climb to the top of the bleachers and retrieve the 10 Commandments.
The MHSAA will host a poll on its Facebook page Feb. 19-21, where fans can vote among the five finalists.
The winner will be announced Feb. 22.

I loved back in the mid 90s when Greenhills and Richard were both Class D and in the same district. Those games in both school's old gyms provided an outstanding high school basketball experience. Standing room only at Greenhills, and packed and raucous stands at Richard. Good times.

Sounds great -- I've heard stories about the old Richard gym, hadn't heard much about Greenhills.
