Gabriel Richard scores 91 in season opener, and more Friday night results

Jason Houle of Father Gabriel Richard boys basketball team scored 27 points, and made four three-point shots. Evan Fosha scored 26 points, and Kamari Davis scored 18. Ashton Hundley had eight steals.

“We expect high scoring all season,” Gabriel Richard coach Pete Schoch said. “We are very up tempo. It’s going to be a fun year, and we’ll see what happens.”

Gabriel Richard plays against Detroit Old Redford on Dec. 11 at 7:00 p.m.

East Jackson 66, Whitmore Lake 60

East Jackson jumped out to a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 33-25 at halftime.

“We like having nine guys score,” East Jackson coach Greg Zeller said. “Lots of scoring from a lot of different guys. It was ugly, but we’re 2-0 so something is working.”

Southfield Bradford 73, Ypsilanti Arbor Prep 48

Adrian Harrison led Ypsilanti Arbor Preparatory with 14 points, and Keyshaun Morris had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Bradford led 24-22 after the first, but lengthened the lead to 47-30 at the half.

“We have five freshman and two sophomores,” Arbor Prep coach Don Spencer said. “They’re extremely talented, but fatigue factors in when seniors are pounding on you.”
