Gabriel Richard's season ends with 3-0 loss to Ida in volleyball districts and more results

ONSTED -- The Father Gabriel Richard volleyball team lost in its first-round district match, 3-0, Tuesday to Ida at Onsted High School.

The Fighting Irish (27-11-1) kept the first set close, losing 25-22 to Ida. But the Bluestreaks overcame the Irish 25-13 in the second set and won the match in the third, 25-20.

"It really came down to serves," Gabriel Richard coach Niki Fritzsch said. "They're a tough serving team, Ida was. We had some issues staying focused. It was hard to transition out of that. I don't think we played bad, but I definitely think we could have played better."

Annemarie Fischer led the Irish with seven kills and nine digs. Britt Kalmetta added five kills and seven digs, Libby Edwards added seven kills and three blocks, and Clare Lout added 11 assists for Richard.
