Chelsea advances, Milan eliminated from Class B district tournament

By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Chelsea High School girls basketball team trailed Onsted 33-29 going into the fourth quarter of their Class B first-round district game Monday at Milan High School.

But Chelsea's Riley Singleton scored all six of her points in the final frame and other Bulldogs stepped up to give Chelsea a 46-41 win against the Wildcats.

"Singleton came in (in the fourth quarter) and scored on an out-of-bounds play and had two other put aways," Chelsea coach Todd Blomquist said. "That was big. Megan Hall also made a few free throws when we were up three to make it more than a one-possession game."

Hall led the Bulldogs in scoring with a game-high 14 points, six of which came from sinking all six of her free-throw attempts. Bailey Darwin put up eight points and grabbed six rebounds for Chelsea.

"It wasn't one of our better performances tonight, but in the postseason, we just want to win and move on and keep getting better," Blomquist said.
