Micah Robinson had 13 points and teammate Kamala Glenn had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Huron win.

Four Huron players scored in double digits in a battle of teams with state finals aspirations.

Detroit Country Day had a 20-17 lead after first quarter, but Huron (2-0) outscored Detroit Country Day 21-11 in the second.

"Much better defense and we were able to take control of the game a bit in the second quarter," Huron coach Steve Vinson said.

Detroit Country Day's Asia Doss had 23 points and teammate Brittany Washington had 20 points.

"Both of us were getting up and down and scoring early," Vinson said of the two teams. "We just did a better job in the driving lanes, taking care of the basketball."

Ypsilanti 53, Albion 28

Jasmine Jones had a game-high 15 points as Ypsilanti improved to 3-0 with the win. The Phoenix did most of their damage in the second quarter, when they put up 22 points and only allowed five.

"After the first quarter, we got in line with our (full-court) press and got where we needed to be," Ypsilanti coach Chris Slater said. "We got our steals and better shots because of that."

Tori Amison had six points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Ypsilanti, which led 35-12 at halftime. The Phoenix next take the court against Ecorse on Saturday at the Dearborn Heights Robichaud invitational tournament.

Harper Woods 58, Arbor Prep 51 (OT)

Zakiya Wells scored a season-high 24 points, including 17 in the second half.

“Zakiya put us back in the second half,” Arbor Preparatory coach Rod Wells said. “She really helped keep us in the game.”

Jasmine Henry of Arbor Preparatory (3-2) had a layup with two seconds left in regulation to tie the game. Harper Woods returned with two 3-pointers to start overtime, securing the lead.

“We were trailing the whole game,” Rod Wells said. “We exerted a lot of energy to come back, but we’re not used to playing close games. [The 3-pointers] kind of broke our back.”

South Lyon East 54, Milan 8

Cadealia Turnage led Milan (1-3) with six points and Emma Brousseau had the Big Reds' only other points.

"I was impressed with South Lyon East in all aspects of the game," said Milan head coach Brad Baden. "We played tough, and we were able to work on some of the little things we needed to."

Milan has scored less than 10 points in its past three games.
