Standing in the wings of the Pioneer High School gymnasium, the Huron girls basketball team paced, jumped, stretched and watched the River Rat boys team put the final touches on a 27-point win.

Not to be outdone, the Huron girls claimed a dominating 71-38 win in the nighcap of the varsity doubleheader.

"Definitely, yes," Huron senior DeVonyea Johnson said when asked if the boys' margin of victory gave the girls something to shoot for. "But really, we were just excited. Everything starts with our defense, so we just focused on really jumping on them quick."
