When the Huron High School girls basketball team clinched its first-ever Southeastern Conference title last month, it was an anti-climactic event.

That's what happens when you wrap up a foregone conclusion.

So after Friday night's 44-36 win over Pioneer in a Class A district championship game, the River Rats spent a good 30 minutes on the Dexter High School court -- soaking in the congratulations of family and friends while sharing a few emotional embraces among themselves.

Even if they were the favorite, advancing to the regional round for the second consecutive season was an accomplishment worth celebrating.

The River Rats will play North Farmington in a Class A regional at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pioneer High School. Hartland and Canton play in the second semifinal, with the two winners meeting Thursday night in the championship game.
