Skyline's first-ever boys soccer win over Huron came at an opportune time.
The Eagles topped Huron in a shootout Wednesday night, 2-1, in a district semifinal game. It marked Skyline's first win over the River Rats and Huron's first loss of the season.
"We did some good things tonight for the program; it's about respect," Skyline coach Chris Morgan said. "We can hold our heads a bit higher and know that we're a good team. We're going in the right direction. We knew we had an uphill climb from the very beginning, and, so far, the guys are rising to the challenge."
Lawrence Mullen had Skyline's goal, and Cam Lekas notched six saves.
The Eagles (14-3-3) advance to take on Pioneer (12-3-3) at 6 p.m. Friday for the district title.
Washtenaw County Scoreboard:
Pioneer 2, Temperance Bedford 1
Story | Boxscore
Ann Arbor Pioneer's Tae-ho Kim and Cal Kirchen both scored one goal. Noah Thompson had an assist, and Lee Petropoulos had five saves.
Dexter 4, Tecumseh 0
Story | Boxscore
Dexter's Bryce Pederson scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick. David Innis, Andrew Foghel, and Joe Harro added a goal each in the second half. Jake Kilian had an assist, Rhys Moller had seven saves, and Trenton Astleman had one save.
"We knew we would be up against a tough opponent," Dexter coach Scott Forrester said. "During the first half, we played against the breeze, but the second half brought monsoon rain, which gave us a little advantage. We wore them down, to a degree."
Dexter (16-5-3) will face the victor of South Lyon East and Chelsea at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Tecumseh.
Brooklyn Columbia Central 2, Manchester 1
Story | Boxscore
With less than a minute remaining in regulation, Brooklyn Columbia Central pounced on a loose ball in a scramble around the net and capitalized.
Edoardo Tricerri led an upstart Manchester team, in its first season as a varsity program, with his team's lone goal.
"Our kids were fired up," Manchester coach Mark Davis said. "They beat us twice in the regular season. We played 79 minutes and 30 seconds -- that last goal with 30 seconds to go was just a dagger."
Greenhills 6, Blissfield 1
Story | Boxscore
Ann Arbor Greenhills' John Lazarsfeld scored two goals and had an assist. Derek Heitman scored two goals, and Mark Wurster and Quinton Milette scored one each. Wurster had three assists, and David Vorva and Sam Sobel both had one.
"The fact that we have the luxury to have a full roster available tonight after missing a lot of guys with injuries gives us a lot of depth and good balance offensively," Greenhills coach Lucian Popescu said. "We played a lot of players tonight, and it builds a lot of confidence when you have guys who can step up and play on the same level."
Greenhills (13-7-1) will face Newport Lutheran South in the district finals on Friday.
Newport Lutheran South 4, Saline Washtenaw Christian 3

Saline Washtenaw Christian's James Pipe, Josiah Donat, and Mathias Donat scored one goal each. Brian Stout had two assists, and Pipe had one.
