Lincoln baseball rolls to doubleheader sweep, Saline tops Brighton and more Tuesday results
Andrew Dillon threw a five-inning one-hitter and Mike Golowick and Nate Simonds combined on a two-hitter as the Lincoln High School baseball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Dundee on Tuesday.
In the first game, a 13-1 Railsplitter victory, Dillon struck out six and didn't allow an earned run. Combined with his season-opening shutout of Belleville, the Lincoln senior is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA.

Dillon also brought on an early end to the game with his three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dillon, Simonds, Kyle Deuel, Cody Schubert and T.J. O'Bryan were all 2-for-3 in the game.
Golowick (five innings, one hit) was the winning pitcher in the second game, which Lincoln won 11-2. The Railsplitters put the game away with a six-run fifth inning.
O'Bryan went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in that game. Dillon added two RBIs.
MORE BASEBALL Saline 12, Brighton 5: Mark Weist went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and winning pitcher Al Zeiher struck out nine Brighton batters through five innings as Saline won its season opener. Garrett Gordon, Tim Bruley, Josh Redies and Myles Debol drove in two runs apiece. "I thought our pitchers threw strikes and we had some good at-bats today," Saline coach Scott Theisen said. "Defensively, we made some mistakes late in the game that cost us some runs, but we'll work on that." Saline relief pitcher Will Goman struck out five in two innings, but Brighton rallied for three unearned runs against him in the bottom of the seventh. A.J. Allen Park Inter-City Baptist 12, Greenhills 4: The Gryphons allowed six walks and committed nine errors while falling to 0-4. Matt Jong was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored three of Greenhills' runs. Host Inter-City Baptist scored at least two runs in each of the first five innings. (Boxscore)

SOFTBALL Lincoln 3, Dundee 2; Dundee 10, Lincoln 0: Erin Moffatt knocked in the game-winning run in the first game with an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning. Moffatt finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Devin Wilson threw a complete game with seven strikeouts to earn the win. "We've matured as a team. I'm really thrilled. They're learning how to win," said Lincoln coach Wes Strickland." The Railsplitters, however, had a change of fortunes in the second game. They managed only three hits in a 10-0, five-inning loss. Manchester 14, Whitmore Lake 0: Jenny Stautz allowed one hit and struck out nine in Manchester's mercy-rule shortened five-inning win. Roxanne Rickert drove in three runs and Nicole Jackson had two RBIs for the Fighting Dutch.
