Late 3-pointer, strong defense lead Father Gabriel Richard girls basketball; Milan still perfect in Huron League and more Monday results

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Angela Broggi's 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining gave the Father Gabriel Richard High School girls basketball team its first lead of the game at the most critical time.

While the long-distance shot gave the Fighting Irish a 36-35 win over Madison Heights Bishop Foley, coach Matt Carroll pointed to the defensive end of the court for the key to Monday night's Catholic High School League win.

Gabriel Richard outscored Foley 10-2 in the fourth quarter after cranking up the defensive pressure.

Leading the defensive effort was Sarah Falvey, who had five steals in the fourth quarter after sitting out the entire third quarter with foul trouble.

"She was really fresh and she really got us back in the game," Carroll said. (Rest of the Story | Boxscore)
