Pioneer and Huron will meet in tonight's water polo state title game
The Michigan water polo state championship trophy is coming back to Ann Arbor.
The Pioneer and Huron boys water polo teams will play each other in the Michigan Water Polo Association’s title game at 7 p.m. tonight at Saline High School. (Check back with AnnArbor.com for complete coverage and a photo gallery.)
The teams advanced to the championship game with semifinal wins earlier Saturday. Huron beat two-time defending state champion Rockford 10-9 in one game while Pioneer beat Hudsonville 5-3.
Huron was the last Ann Arbor team to win a title, beating Pioneer in the 2008 final. Pioneer won five of six state championships between 1997-2002.
