The top three stays the same in Week 2 of the AnnArbor.com Washtenaw County Boys Basketball Power Rankings, but those teams could be in for more of a challenge this week.

Pioneer stays in the top spot after a convincing win over Monroe last week. Our next two teams also retain their rankings, after recording wins by 15 or more points.

Huron came off of its Christmas holiday to win in convincing fashion, by 23 points over Saline on Saturday, to move into the fourth spot and move Saline down to No. 5.

Other standings climbers include Whitmore Lake, which had a 2-0 week after a 1-5 start, and Willow Run, which earned its first win of the season.

This week’s schedule features a showdown between top five teams in Pioneer and Huron on Friday in the AnnArbor.com Game of the Week, while Ypsilanti will take on No. 6 Lincoln.

Dexter girls stay No. 1

No shake-up at the top here, either, as Dexter easily dispatched the No. 4 team in our rankings, Ypsilanti, 54-26 Friday night, to keep its hold on the top of the rankings.

Lincoln fell to an Inkster team receiving votes in the Associated Press Class A rankings, but won its other two games this week to move up to No. 2. Manchester, meanwhile, continues to plow through the Cascades Conference and stays at No. 3.

Chelsea moves up to the No. 4. spot in the rankings after a convincing win over Tecumseh, and will take on rival Dexter Friday night.

Huron, coming into the week with a three-game losing streak, held Saline to 21 points and won by 21. It displaces previous No. 5 Pioneer, which fell to Holt by 15 and squeaked out a win over Monroe. Pioneer and Huron face off Friday.

Just curious as how Ypsilanti Arbor Prep drops 2 spots after they win on the road? Did you rate them to highly in your first poll and are now adjusting them accordingly? Thanks!

It was a good week for quite a few area teams against non-area teams, so the rankings had to be adjusted accordingly.
