Pioneer field hockey players earn All-Region honors

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its All-Region teams on Monday, and Pioneer’s Kelsey Thompson and Emy Guttman were the lone Michigan selections on the 16 player West Region squad. There are 6 All-Region teams, each of which are comprised of top players from multiple states.

Thompson, a senior, was a member of 4 state championship teams in her high school career at Pioneer. She was a 2-time All-State selection and AnnArbor.com’s 2009 Washtenaw County Player of the Year. Guttman, a junior, scored 15 goals for the Pioneers this season, was an All-State selection and a member of the AnnAbor.com 2009 All-Washtenaw County Dream Team.

With the All-Region selections, Thompson and Guttman are eligible for NFCHA All-American team, which will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7.
