Washtenaw County track & field athletes compete at AAU Junior Olympic Games

Names of Washtenaw County athletes were scattered throughout the results of the 2010 AAU Junior Olympic Games held at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va.

Dynasty McGee, who ran at Lincoln High School as a junior last season after making a name for herself nationally at Flint Southwestern, finished fourth in the young women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 54.74 seconds. She was seventh in preliminaries earlier in the week-long event.

While McGee was three-tenths of a second shy of the second-place runner in Saturday’s final at Dick Price Stadium, the winner of the event, Kamaria Brown of Baton Rouge, La., set a new national record of 52.99 seconds.

Quenee Dale of Ypsilanti won the 100-meter hurdles in the girls youth division in a time of 14.01 seconds. As a comparison, the winning time at this year’s MHSAA Division 1 state finals was 14.29 seconds. Dale also finished fourth in the 200-meter hurdles in the youth division.

Recent Pioneer High School graduate Muhammad Sani finished fifth in the young men’s 800-meter run in 1:54.09. Earlier, Sani finished sixth out of 76 competitors in the preliminary round.

E.J. Medvecz, Ypsilanti, 12th in boys midget discus and 19th in boys midget shot put.

Eddie Codrington, Ann Arbor, 14th in the boys youth 1,500-meter run and 24th in 800-meter run.

Courtney Bryant, Ann Arbor, 20th in girls youth shot put and 36th in girls youth discus.

Maya Long, Ann Arbor, 22nd in girls intermediate 400-meter dash.

William Small, Ypsilanti, 25th in boys midget 200-meter dash preliminaries and 29th in 100-meter dash preliminaries.

Jake Spuller, Dexter, 41st in young men’s 200-meter dash preliminaries.

Berkley Edwards, Chelsea, 42nd in boys intermediate 100-meter dash and 50th in 200-meter dash preliminaries.

Chris Emerson, Ann Arbor, 44th in boys primary long jump.

Lauren Ross, Ypsilanti, 52nd in young women’s 200-meter dash preliminaries.

Bria Johnson, Ypsilanti, 53rd in girls youth 400-meter dash preliminaries.

Reggie Hill, Ypsilanti, 57th in boys sub-youth 100-meter dash preliminaries and 60th in 200-meter dash preliminaries.

Kyle Martin, Ypsilanti, 63rd in boys sub-bantam 800-meter run preliminaries.
