"We pressured them defensively and we were able to force a lot of turnovers," Saline coach Jeff Waltz said. "We were fortunate enough to be able to capitalize on their mistakes, because we turned the ball over quite a bit ourselves. Improving our half-court offense is going to have to be a focus of ours moving forward."
Rudolf Steiner went on a 17-1 run in the first quarter.
"It was a good start to the season," Rudolf Steiner assistant coach Eric Sproull said. "Everybody played. Our offense ran well and the defense was aggressive. We didn't have any complacency because we only had eight girls and we were able to get everybody really good playing time. There is always something for us to be working on."
Abigail Andrews finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Rudolf Steiner. Abigail's sister, Georgie Andrews, ended up with four points and four rebounds.
