Tom Hickey

School: Saline
Class: Senior

Notable: Tom Hickey proved one of the area’s most potent boys lacrosse threat on offense, averaging more than a hat trick per game. He finished with 60 goals and 23 assists on 136 shots in 18 games, and was named a third team All-State attack. “He always went against the best defender on each team, and I would say almost every time Tom is the one that came out on top,” Saline coach Matt Ceo said. The Hornets finished 11-7 on the season, with five of those wins coming over Skyline and Huron. They advanced to the regional semifinals, as far as any Washtenaw County team in 2013. Hickey led the way, not only through his offense but through senior leadership as well. “He was a team player through and through,” Ceo said. “Tom’s a high-character kid, which is what we look for.” Highlights in Hickey’s season included a six-goal performance in an early May win over Troy. Three of those goals came shooting left-handed, and three came shooting right-handed. “There aren’t a lot of players that can do that,” Ceo said. He followed up with a four-goal output against Huron in his team’s next game. Hickey will play next season at Colorado State, a team that won its second straight Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association in 2013 and finished the season undefeated.
