Notable: Quenee’ Dale was undefeated in the 100-meter hurdles throughout the year, and won the state title by nearly three tenths of a second. She also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash and anchored the Hornets’ state championship 400-meter relay. Her performance helped Saline to a runner-up finish at the state finals June 1, marking the school’s best-ever finish in the event. Dale’s hurdles win marked Saline’s first individual girls track and field state title since 2002. The state title was Dale’s second, after she won a Division 2 state title two years ago as a freshman at Romulus. Her 100 hurdles state title culminated a season in which she was unbeaten in the event, including wins at regionals, SEC championships and the Golden Triangle Invite, in which she set her season best of 14.13. In the state finals, Dale got what she said was her best start of the season and finished in 14.79 running into a headwind. “Tremendous start in the final,” coach Brian Boze said after the state finals. “She didn’t have a great finish there, but she’s ran at a high level for a long time and can manage bits of adversity really well in the hurdle races.”
