Ypsilanti and Pioneer have been our top two boys basketball teams all season, and have changed places twice in the last two weeks.

Tuesday, they’ll be able to settle it on the court.

No. 1 Pioneer will travel to No. 2 Ypsilanti in an SEC crossover game between Washtenaw County’s best teams. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

The Pioneers have the top spot in this week’s rankings, due to Ypsilanti’s Friday loss to Thornton North (Ill.). But both stand out above the rest of the county’s game. Pioneer has lost only once since mid-December, and Ypsilanti’s three losses have come by a combined five points. Neither team has lost to another in Washtenaw County.

Milan ran its record to 12-1 on the year to stay in third place, while the next four teams in our rankings: Huron, Skyline, Saline and Lincoln all finished 1-1 on the week.

No. 1 Dexter, No. 3 Huron girls to do battle Tuesday

While our boys teams have a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup, our girls basketball teams have a pretty good Tuesday matchup, too.

No. 1 Dexter travels to No. 3 Huron Tuesday in our AnnArbor.com Game of the Week, pitting first-place SEC teams against one another.

The Dreadnaughts have been our top-ranked team all year, while Huron moves up a spot to No. 3, after Chelsea suffered a loss to Ypsilanti at home.
