Washtenaw Christian, Plymouth Christian will meet in Class D final
The boys basketball teams from Washtenaw Christian Academy and Plymouth Christian Academy advanced to meet in a Class D district title game with semifinal wins on Wednesday night.
Tournament host Washtenaw Christian topped Calvary Christian 60-54 and Plymouth Christian beat Central Academy 55-50.
In the first semifinal, Plymouth Christian (13-7) took a 19-point first half lead against Central Academy (10-11) before the Falcons rallied to make it a game.
Central Academy got within 10 at halftime and took brief leads in both the third and fourth quarters, but couldn't hold them.
Sami Shalabi led Central Academy with 23 points. Omar Hasan added 15 and Lauy Shalabi 12.

Washtenaw Christian (7-15) won the second semifinal thanks to 22 points from Justin Troost and 11 from Tanner Goss. The host Wildcats had a comfortable 47-34 lead after three quarters.
Goss played limited minutes due to foul trouble, but Goss picked up the scoring slack with his season-high point total. He also had 15 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
"He carried us, that is what you need when a guy fouls out," Washtenaw Christian coach Tim Goss said.
Jonah Lagenderfer scored a game-high 23 points for Calvary Christian (4-15) and Kendall Hunley added 10 points.
"I was proud of this game. It was one of our best efforts of the season," said Calvary coach Rick Roe.
