It didn't take long for Huron High School foreign exchange student Carlo Zensus, who's from Germany, to make his presence felt for the River Rats' boys soccer team.

Zensus provided the Rats' lone goal in their 1-0 victory over Warren De La Salle in a nonconference game Wednesday in Ann Arbor. The win is the first of the season for Huron (1-1-1).

With the game stuck in a scoreless tie, Zensus netted a goal on a header assist from Matt Ybarra with 6 minutes, 40 seconds left in the second half. Making a throw-in pass to Ybarra was Steve Weidenbach.

"It was great to see him get that goal," said Huron coach Reese Richardson, who has taken notice of Zensus' knack for soccer.

"He really loves the game," Richardson added. "I think he has taught the kids a lot with his passion for the game and showing them Europe's passion for the game."

Huron outshot De La Salle 7-5.
