ADRIAN -- Willow Run High School's Nyshaun Marks accounted for 23 points in a 43-14 Flyers' win Friday at Adrian Madison, catching two touchdown passes, returning an interception for a touchdown and connecting on all five of his extra-point attempts.

"We expected to see a little more out of him last week and it was a little disappointing that we didn't," Willow run coach Rufus Pipkins said of Marks. "He really picked it up this week, and made plays for us every way he could and on special teams with the extra points and as the punter as well."
Marks' touchdown catches from Ja'len Griffin covered 60 and 45 yards and his interception return was 55 yards long.
Though the final score indicates a blowout, the majority of the game was a close contest. After an Aaron Richmond 38-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Madison scored the only points of second quarter and the game was 7-6 Flyers at half.
After a pair of Griffin touchdown passes in the second quarter to Mark and Chervez Sims, Willow Run had a comfortable lead, but lost that comfort at the beginning of the fourth when Adrian Madison drove down the field and made the score 21-14.
That's when Pipkins said his team's conditioning and balanced running attack took over.
"In the fourth, when we were driving, it was like we were driving against air," Pipkins said. "You could see they were tired, weren't getting in their stances and our guys on our side started realizing it and just taking on guys."
Willow Run (2-0) scored 22 straight points and finished with 615 yards of total offense, 390 on the ground and 226 through the air.
"Our option game really opened up our passing game tonight," Pipkins said. "Our goal is to have as balanced an offense as possible."
Griffin finished 10-of-15 through the air for 226 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 78 yards. Sims rushed for 108 yards and Johnny Brown had 121.
On defense, William Meadows led Willow Run with 12 tackles, a sack and an interception.
