CANTON TWP. -- The Huron High School girls basketball team didn't get many whistles in its favor Thursday night at Salem High School, but that ultimately didn't mean much in a 42-26 season-opening victory.

The River Rats won despite an overwhelming 18-4 foul disparity, getting to the free throw line only twice as a team while Salem's Sara Stone enjoyed 11 trips by herself.

"Our defensive intensity was great," Huron coach Steve Vinson said. "We may have been a bit over aggressive, leading to some of the fouls, but I'm very pleased with the win." (Rest of the story | Boxscore)
