An ice fishing derby for children and adults is scheduled for Saturday at Independence Lake Park in Whitmore Lake.

The event, put on by the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission, opens with registration at 7 a.m. Competition ends at 5 p.m. Adults pay an $8 entry fee and children 12 and under pay $4. The entry fee includes a hot dog, chips and a soft drink.

No alcohol, ATVs or snowmobiles are allowed. For information, call 734-449-4437.
