I was lucky enough to work as an official on deck at both the 14&U State Meet on Friday and yesterday at the AAU Jr. Olympics. Both events had wonderful performances by local and non-local athletes. It's really sad that swimming gets buried so deeply in the media coverage continually by AA.com. I officiate a lot of HS meets in the AA area, and it is rare to see any coverage of these meets. The AA area is one of the best areas for HS swimming in the state, but the coverage is so light that most people don't know that. We see stories about a lot of different athletes/teams from the "major" sports, but it is rare to see articles about athletes from swimming. I will add this, which is my own personal opinion. Swimmers are often the hardest working (by time commitment) athletes of any sport. During the school season swimmers will often practice more than 3 hours per day, plus practice on Saturday's when the team does not have a meet. I don't recall to many other sports that have 2 practices a day both prior to the season starting, and in season. Swimming has two-a-days from the first day of practice until right before the season ends.

There was also a prestigious State meet this weekend at EMU for 14 and under swimmers where Ann Arbor's Club Wolverine won handily, but no mention in annarbor.com. And by the way, you never finished reporting the results from last week's WISC Swimming Championships. Thursday's diving results and final results were never posted as promised.

@A2.com Kyle, Daniel and Pete -- there were many local Ann Arbor, Dexter, Plymouth-Canton and Saline swimmers who competed in the swimming competition. There were many top 3 finishes, records broken in relays and individual events by local swimmers . It is very exciting to have athletes from so many different states and countries participate in this event at Canham.
