In brief: 3v3 soccer tournament, baseball tryouts and more community sports

A 3-on-3 soccer tournament will be played Saturday, Aug. 4 on the two turf fields at Saline High School.

Brian Lampman, director of the first annual 3v3 Soccer Classic, said the tournament is modeled after a similar tournament that former Michigan soccer coach Steve Burns ran for more than 20 years in Ann Arbor. Burns served as a consultant for this event. The tournament is a fundraiser for the soccer programs at Skyline and Saline high schools. Players from those schools will be referees. There are divisions for boys and girls from U-6 through U-16 and open divisions for women age 25-50. Trophies will be presented to winners and runners-up in each division.

The cost for a four-player team is $120, with registration due by July 31. Visit wc3v3.com to register.

Travel baseball tryouts

Tryouts for the Michigan Blue Jays travel baseball program will be held Saturday July 28 and Sunday, Aug. 12, on the intramural fields at Eastern Michigan University, located at 100 Westview Street in Ypsilanti.

Times for July 28 are: 9-11 a.m. for U-8 through U-11 teams; noon to 2 p.m. for U-12 through U-17. Times for August 12: 9-11 a.m for U-8 through U-11 teams; noon to 2 p.m. for U-12 through U-15 teams and 3-6 p.m. for U-16 through U-18 teams.

Fall adult volleyball

Registration is open for the Ann Arbor Rec & Ed fall adult volleyball league, which begins play in September and runs for 10 weeks. Leagues are available for men’s, women’s and co-recreational six-player teams in a range of skill levels. There are also four-player leagues and an instructional league.

Fall youth volleyball league

Registration is now open for the Ann Arbor Rec & Ed’s fall co-ed youth volleyball league, which begins in October and runs through mid-December.

The league, for boys and girls in grades 4-9, is designed to develop skills and have fun playing the sport. There are no cuts or tryouts.
