The Indiana baseball team took early control with three runs in the first inning and cruised to an 8-1 win against Michigan Friday night at Ray Fisher Stadium.
The Hoosiers (20-23, 7-6 Big Ten) added a pair of runs in the second and third innings while battering Michigan (17-25, 4-9) starter Brandon Sinnery for seven runs on 10 hits over six innings.
Indiana starter Joey DeNato allowed five hits and struck out a school record 12 Michigan batters through eight innings. The Wolverines’ lone run came on a Eric Jacobson RBI single in the second inning.
Indiana’s Kyle Schwarber went 4-for-4 with a home run and scored three times. (Boxscore)

Northern Illinois 1, Eastern Michigan 0: EMU’s Neil Butara lost a pitcher’s duel when the Eagles committed a pair of ninth inning errors and the visiting Huskies capitalized for an unearned run. Butara allowed three hits and struck out four. Northern Illinois’ Taylor Nawrocki allowed just two hits over eight innings to earn the win.
