Short recap of Indiana's victory against the Michigan basketball team
A recap of Indiana's 71-65 win over the Michigan basketball team.
Big shots: Indiana’s Jeremiah Rivers, the son of former NBA player Doc Rivers, made a layup and was fouled with 1:12 left, giving the Hoosiers a 64-61 lead, the last lead change of the game. The play also fouled out Michigan forward DeShawn Sims.
Board game: Michigan outrebounded Indiana, 35-31, but in critical junctures the Hoosiers got the offensive rebounds.
Inside out: Michigan’s frontcourt was ineffective. Sims had 12 points, but grabbed just 3 rebounds. Zack Gibson had 4 points and 5 rebounds in 8 minutes. Indiana, meanwhile, played through its guards as well as Verdell Jones III led all scorers with 20 points.
Beilein bit: “Zack got off to a hot start and Stu got one as well. Unfortunately, no one else could find the range. ... I looked at it and said those guys are shooting the ball well, but we shot the ball 32 percent as a team. We’re not going to win. We just have to keep working. We drove the ball and when you’re guarded you have to drive it. We drove the ball a couple of times instead of settling for a three so that’s that mix we’re trying to teach them right now.” - John Beilein
