Jay Higgins' 25 points leads EMU basketball to third straight win
YPSILANTI (AP) — Jay Higgins made five of Eastern Michigan's seven 3-pointers and finished with 25 points in Monday night's 75-58 win over Canisius at the Convocation Center.
Higgins, a transfer from Hillsborough (Fla.) Community College, finished 10-of-17 from the floor as the Eagles (5-2) won their third straight game.
Brandon Bowdry added 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and Carlos Medlock went 7-for-9 from the free throw line en route to 12 points.
Medlock, named the Mid-American Conference West player of the week earlier in the day, also had a game-best eight assists.
Greg Logins led the Golden Griffins (3-2) with 18 points and seven rebounds. Frank Turner scored 12 points and Elton Frazier 11.
Tomas Vazquez-Simmons converted a layup to pull Canisius within 10-6 with 16:40 left in the first half. But then Eastern Michigan embarked on a 25-10 spurt that put the game away.
The Eagles, who never trailed, led 46-25 at intermission.

Why is A2.com using an AP report for a D1 basketball game played in Washtenaw County??? Would you do the same for a UM game? Of course not. There is a second D1 school in the county. Please provide real coverage of EMU Athletics.
