Justin Feagin dismissed from University of Michigan football team

By Dave Birkett

Wide receiver Justin Feagin was dismissed from Michigan's football team Thursday for an unspecified violation of team rules, coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement.

Feagin, from Deerfield, Fla., was one of the final pieces of Rodriguez's first recruiting class as a dual-threat quarterback. He played sparingly under center as a true freshman and was converted to wide receiver midway through last season.

This year, he was vying for backup time at slot receiver behind fellow sophomore Martavious Odoms.

Feigan is the third 2008 recruit to leave the team in recent months. Sophomore offensive linemen Dan O'Neill and Kurt Wermers transferred to Western Michigan and Ball State, respectively. According to an ESPN.com report, Wermers was academically ineligible at the time of his transfer.

A team must have discipline. Whether a player's a star or not is irrelevant. That's the truest test of whether a coach means what he says about anything is whether he requires the players to follow team (and NCAA and University) rules. As well as the law. Glad to see this.

Yes, Michigan does have enough young slot receivers to repopulate the entire MAC if necessary. Too bad you can't play 11 of them at once, though it wouldn't surprise me if RichRod tried.

no big loss our receiver pool is getting pretty deep. These qbs and wrs are going to grow to be very dangerous over the next couple seasons.

Whatever it was, it must have been pretty serious. Considering other players have gotten in trouble (i.e. Kevin Grady's DUI and Boubacar getting arrested last month) and they have been disciplined and given more chances, for Feagin to just be flat out dismissed without any known history of problems... yeah, it doesn't sound good whatever it was.

Michigan and RR are the best. I think Michigan will beat OSU this year by the score of 42-7.
