Liberty Athletic Club's Snapping Turtles win USTA regional and more community sports notes

The Snapping Turtles, a co-ed tennis team that plays out of Liberty Athletic Club, won the Intermediate 12 Division at the USTA Midwest Sectionals in Carmel, Ind. The Midwest Sectional includes teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and Michigan. Winning the sectional is the highest title the Turtles can win in their age group.

Trap Shoot Challenge
The first Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber Trap Shoot Challenge will be take place at noon on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Tri-County Sportmen’s Club in Saline. All ages are invited. Shooter tickets are $50 and include shells, clays and food. Non-shooter tickets are $25 and include food, beverage and participation in non-shooting games. Activities will include trap shooting, a raffle, a pickle bucket drawing and a white pigeon contest. For more information, visit a2ychamber.org.
SWIMMING
Club Wolverine Evaluation Days
Club Wolverine will hold evaluations from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 30-31 at Fuller Pool. Swimmers should bring a suit, towel and goggles. Evaluations will last about 15 minutes and will result in coaches suggesting which level each swimmer should start training with Club Wolverine. Parents can also ask questions about how the club works.
VOLLEYBALL
Fall Ball Sign Up
Registration is ongoing for Ann Arbor Rec & Ed’s fall coed youth volleyball league. For boys and girls entering grades 4-9, this league is designed to develop skills and have fun. There are no cuts or tryouts. Online registration is available at www.aareced.com. Save $10 if you register by Thursday.
