Karen Beeman, the longtime men's basketball secretary at the University of Michigan, died Tuesday at the age of 47.

Beeman had been the basketball secretary for 19 years before moving to the athletic medicine office as the medical office manager. In all, she worked for the University for 27 years.

Beeman is survived by her husband, Rick, and her daughter, Kendra.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home 910 N. Main Street, Chelsea. Family will receive friends today from 2-4pm and on Friday 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
