The No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes are off to a 5-0 start, their best ever in coach Kirk Ferentz's 11-year tenure in Iowa City. The record includes an upset of Penn State in Happy Valley.

The Hawkeyes have also escaped with narrow victories at home against the likes of Arkansas State and Northern Iowa, the latter of which is a former Division I-AA team, and their starting quarterback has been prone to interceptions.

So when they host the University of Michigan football team Saturday in a prime-time game, no one really knows what to expect from the inconsistent Hawkeyes. Here's a rundown of Iowa stories to start fans' preparation for Saturday's game:

If you cannot run then start throwing on this defense. As long as Tate doesn't try to run through the DL, I think he will have a good game. Hopefully we can out score them, if so we have a chance of winning! If not, then it could be a long night!

From what I've seen from Michigan so far I expect every game to come down to the wire. I'm worried about our defense making the Iowa offense look better than it really is and Iowa's defense is scary. I think D-rob might be able to make a difference but he will have to throw the ball to do it.

Another game where the run probably isn't going to help. This time, we need more receivers to step up--limit the dropped passes, miscommunications--and find running lanes. Hopefully, the D gets some turnovers. Enough of this 4th quarter stuff, too--start fast on offense. Against Iowa, it's kind of necessary. We don't want or need two losses in a row.

The one consistent trend has been Iowa's D -- no one has scored large numbers of points. No one. Including the hyped and talent-laden Penn State spread offense. Time for U of M's D to step up and match the intensity of Tate.
