Matt Paterini extends lead at Ann Arbor city golf championship
Matt Paterini has plenty of experience with exciting finishes at the City of Ann Arbor men's amateur golf championship.
But if the 22-year-old Saline native can continue his current play, Sunday's final round at Leslie Park Golf Course would be considerably less dramatic.
Paterini followed his first-round score of 69 on Friday with a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday, giving him a 5-stroke cushion atop the leaderboard.
In 2009, Paterini beat Aaron Peterson on the sixth sudden-death playoff hole to win his first city title. He repeated in 2010, battling back from six shots off the lead by shooting a 69 in the final round.
Top contenders for a Sunday comeback this year include Jacob Sitzman, who shot a 68 on Saturday for a two-round total of 141, and Alexander Watkins (70-72--142), who is in third place.
