Second-year quarterback Matthew Stafford says he's glad to have his rookie season over with, and he's ready to be the leader the Detroit Lions need, MLive.com reports.

Stafford started 10 games last year, going 2-8 and missed six other games because of shoulder and knee injuries.

"I feel a whole lot better walking around this building than I did last year when I got drafted and came in,'' Stafford said Tuesday. "It's a completely different feeling. I'm excited to kind of take this thing over and get us headed in the right direction.''

Stafford says he's eager to work more with receivers Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson.
