Meandering through the maize (and blue): Steve Spurrier didn't vote for Tim Tebow

By Michael Rothstein

Happy Saturday to you and welcome to the weekend.

Slow news cycle right now -- although that'll likely pick up Monday when Big Ten meetings start and college football begins here. In the meantime, the SEC meetings finally concluded and everyone is making a big deal over Steve Spurrier not voting Tim Tebow first-team all-SEC.

Then again, Spurrier said he wasn't the one who filled it out and he just signed off on it.

Riiiighhht.

Spurrier has had a habit of doing funny things with polls and voting before (he's usually given woebegone Duke a Top 25 vote at the beginning of the season). Check out these links while you ponder that.

FOOTBALL

  • Along with us -- and a bunch of other people -- the blog Maize N Brew will be at Big Ten media days.
  • BASKETBALL

  • James Madison coach Matt Brady left Marist for James Madison a little over a year ago. Now, he's in a lawsuit similar to the one Rich Rodriguez faced when he left West Virginia for Michigan, writes Dustin Dopirak in the Daily News-Record.
    • OTHER

    • An independent league baseball player really loves Michigan. He's also the younger brother of former Wolverine Nate Holdren.
