Meandering through the maize (and blue): Tom Brady is back - both with the Pats and to his old ways

Former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady is back - and he made his return in most dramatic fashion.

The current New England Patriots quarterback led two touchdown-scoring drives in the fourth quarter, coming from 11 points down to give the Patriots a 25-24 win over Buffalo.

FOOTBALL:

  • Tate Forcier received 1,600 Facebook friend requests since Saturday, writes Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press.
  • Forcier also was named the Davey O'Brien quarterback of the week.
  • Both Rich Rodriguez and Charlie Weis saw plays they had issue with during Saturday's game. And whenever there are officiating issues - especially in non-conference games - it begs the question of why not nationalize the officiating base.
  • Eastern Michigan almost beat Northwestern. Eastern coach Ron English isn't thinking about that, though.
  • Michigan's No. 25 ranking - players and coaches are ambivalent. It's good for the fans, though, writes the AP's Larry Lage.
  • Michigan had a good recruiting weekend, writes Josh Hemholdt.
  • BASKETBALL:

  • Recruit Trey Ziegler visited Ann Arbor this weekend.
  • Robert "Tractor" Traylor has two weeks to set up a tax payment plan or head to federal prison, writes Ben Schmitt in the Detroit Free Press.
  • OTHER SPORTS AND STUFF:

  • The Michigan women's soccer team, still looking for improvement.
  • Michigan volleyball moves up to No. 6 in the country.
  • Deaf athletes overcome obstacles to play Division I sports, writes Robert Klemko in USA Today.
  • Roger Federer fell at the U.S. Open for the first time in 40 matches, writes Mike Lupica of the Daily News.
