Michigan AD Dave Brandon says alumni comfortable with Brady Hoke; 2012 U-M recruit Bennie Coney working to rehab image and more

By Kaleb Roedel

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon has been confident that Brady Hoke, who may not have been the most popular choice to replace Rich Rodriguez, will win over Michigan football fans everywhere.

On Monday morning, Brandon touched on the subject with WBBL-FM (Grand Rapids), reported the Detroit News staff.

Said Brandon, "I've been on a tour the last few days speaking to and interacting with a lot of our alumni around the country, and I can just tell you it feels very, very good right now. It feels like people are very comfortable with Brady, who he is, what he stands for, what his message is."

Cool story about Dusty, the cat burglar, who takes stuff home as the night vision camera captures some of the action. I wouldn't be surprised that Dusty already "took back" the $2.5M buyout check from whatshisname to AD Brandon and I'd hollah, "Go Blue Dusty". http://www.annarbor.com/pets/dusty-the-criminal-klepto-kitty-steals-neighborhood-belongings-and-brings-them-home/

Ultimately, I don't think the Coney kid will end up at Michigan. U-M is looking at a lot of QB's in this next recruiting class and will no doubt make a bunch more offers. Besides, I think it's just too risky to bring in a QB who was suspended for part of a season for fighting. It may be a one-time deal, but it's certainly a red flag.

@Meangoblue, dude, I usually like your comments, but your take on the alumni is off based. DB is doing his job, no matter what has or is happening. Many alumni give a lot of money to U-M, diplomacy is par for the course my friend, don't read too much into it. @Forever27, huh? What are you talking about? Give it a rest, Carr has been gone for a few yrs now, think maybe you want to leave him alone. He was and is a good man, yet somehow you want to drag and mire his name along with whatshisname. Pretty insulting to do so, whatshisname is a classless piece of you know what. I wasn't enamored with many things Carr did, especially at the end, but leave him alone man.

Forever27 "The ncaa violations began during Carr's watch, with Carr's employees." whatshisname defenders love to say things to defend their guy and to slam LC, and they pretend that what they say is based on facts or truth. This is from an article about the NCAA violations: "Rodriguez was hired in December 2007. February's notice of allegations from the NCAA charged that U-M's violations started in January 2008." Shame on you Forever27 for trying to blame the NCAA violations on LC. That is very weak !

do you seriously think that this practice suddenly started happening? It had been an issue for years. The allegations conveniently only began in January because that's when the new coach (that the accuser openly despised) started.

The ncaa violations began during Carr's watch, with Carr's employees. The kids recruited were no different than the kids that Carr recruited. There are always questionable kids, it's just that the administration looked the other way for Carr. Unfortunately, I can't counter the "excuses" comment, because however true it was, it should never be said by a coach.

Coney is an interesting prospect. On his tape he sort of reminds me a bit of Byron Leftwich but his release is much quicker and he appears to have a softer, more accurate pass than Bryon but perhaps not quite the same arm strength yet. Hoke is the real thing. This Is Michigan. Go Blue.

MSU's "perfect storm year?" Great to see the media outside of Ann Arbor is still making excuses for MSU every step of the way. Anyone could see, as I did, that Izzo blew every bit of credibility and mojo that he had going in EL when he almost took the Cavs job. Let's see how my predictions from the summer to the beginning of the season have gone. Nobody believes he is really "Spartan for life" anymore, kids start to tune him out: check. A few more losses than usual, especially in close games: check. Discipline problems begin to emerge on roster: check. The pendulum will swing back to Michigan, maybe as early as next season: it could be happening even earlier. Fanbase starts to turn on Izzo: check. Go to RCMB if you want to be entertained by true Sparty fans. MSM starts to turn on Izzo: hasn't happened yet. I underestimated the Lansing, GR, and Detroit outlets' undying devotion to and adoration of all things Izzo. Five seed in the NCAA and Sparty becomes yet another 5/12 upset victim: I might have given them too much credit here. A five seed is starting to look like a pipe dream in EL. Izzo takes the next decent NBA offer he can get: to be determined. This year wasn't a "perfect storm" for Sparty; all of the blame goes directly on the shoulders of Tom Izzo. While I love to insult Sparty with great frequency and intensity, I don't really think for a moment that their players or fans are so stupid that they don't know when they are being "played." And it really is obvious: Izzo is playing the Spartans. "Spartan for life" isn't nearly as long as it used to be. I don't know if I would like to see him bolt and prove me right or continue to try and play his hand after throwing away the wrong cards and being called on his bluff. Either way, it will be a lot of fun to see Green and White signify Envy and Shock.
