Michigan football team's Greg Mattison getting praise from former players, bosses; U-M hopes late push lands San Diego kicker and more

By Kaleb Roedel

With heaps of praise coming from those who've worked with him, Greg Mattison, the Michigan football team's new defensive coordinator, appears to be a prized pick for the Wolverines.

Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press reported on what some of Mattison's former players and bosses are saying.

Snyder writes,"Mattison doesn't have a reputation as an elite tactician with a gambling style like his Ravens predecessor, Rex Ryan. He simply has been a consistent, adaptable force for years -- at one elite program after another."

Rosenberg and Snyder can kiss the new regime's "feet" all they want, but both should have their press passes permanently revoked for all UM sports.

hey Tater...go google "Michigan hired a great coach by Michael Rosenberg" and you will find the 2007 Freep article that Rosenberg wrote praising the hiring of RR... RR killed all that with his flat out stupidity in every respect. Its all on RR.

Hey TeddyBear212 (Theo), A belated congratulations in buying up everything from your ex-king's collection from the Salvation Army. Did you find any crystal to bid for? Fret not Teddybear212, your new King Hoke will get you one if you humbly bow down and kiss his grass stained coaching shoes. GO BLUE!

Guys, cut Theo some slack. He publicly professed here inside knowledge of the program that he obviously never had and is frankly embarrassed about how things look now. He doesn't have any real recourse except to stick to his guns and ride his ship all the way to bottom. Theo! I Salute you!! As for our program, I am so excited about our prospects! I think you're already seeing a late push to get this years recruiting class turned around, something many pundits thought was impossible. Can't wait for signing day and Spring Practice!

There once was a boy named Theo212, who once was a fan of the Blue. Until one day they canned his man crush friend; but Theo's love for RR never did end. Poor ol Theo became so bitter, that he would rant and rave on aa.com and twitter. Eventually the poor boy lost his mind, until all he could do was cry and whine. Do not be sad because this has a good end, eventually someone gave a new job to his friend. Off to D3 Cornell RR was sent, and right behind ol Theo went.

So Theo or T212 to some, you're the sane one and most of us are the delusional ones? Hmm, very interesting. Thanks for the wonderful wisdom, I feel so much more enlightened, I'm snickering now. So Theo, why don't you give me a prediction on how many games we'll win next year and I'll do the same and we can make a harmless little wager, what you say Theo, are you game?

So was Dee Hart in love with RR or the style of play at michigan? If it is the style of play then why is he going to Bama? Must be he really likes RR or coaches like RR. I doubt he will end up at michigan but I would expect some signing day suprises for michigan in a positive way. Look for some D players to switch commitments before the signing day!

RR was building something very promising at Mich. and believe it or not there was a wealth of talent like D Hart that wanted to play for RR. RR coached up W. Virginia with decent talent. RR was starting to turn the corner at Mich. and I mean that in a positive way. We sure missed out on some exciting years ahead and now we're going back to smash mouth, boring, lose the bowls Mich, what a crying shame. Don't kid yourself, Jim Tressell wil own Brady Hoke he's to smart for Brady Hoke. In fact Nebraska will own Mich. D hart wanted to play for RR, it was the whole philosophy there is no way he will play in that old school stuff that Brady Hoke is bringing back.

Update: Isaiah Crowell, RB for GA is visiting Bama this weekend. Why is that important? Well, Dee Hart, RB from FL is also targeted for the Crimson Tide this year. Crowell is ranked the No. 1 RB by ESPN and he has to decide between GA and Bama. I don't know if Dee Hart is even on Michigan's radar anymore, and vice versa, but he has shown a lot of leeway in his commitment, so maybe there is still a gap to sneak back in. Just thought you dunderheads would want to know. Go Blue!

Dee Hart is enrolled at Alabama. It doesn't matter what Crowell wants to do, Dee isn't coming here.

There once was a coach named Hoke, Of Big Ten titles he spoke. He ran the pro set; True fans, they did fret, As Crystal hopes went up in smoke. -Theo LeFlore Brock Henderson '11 Sorry, kids. Just stating the obvious. It gets one nowhere by being like Dorothy (cue the fake smoke), clicking your slippers together: "There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place..." Nuh-uh. You can NEVER go back. I prefer sanity and being grounded in reality. Join me. Go Blue

Michigan is lucky to come across an excellent kicker like Wile so late in the recruiting process. And his family has massive U-M ties already. So, you'd think we should be able to land him. It appears the current staff has done their homework on Wile to make sure he can easily kick off the ground already. It doesn't look like Rodriguez's staff did as nearly good of a job when they were recruiting Gibbons, who simply can't kick accurately from any distance off the ground. And it kind of baffles me why Michigan hadn't offered any kicker MUCH earlier in the recruiting process, especially when it was so obvious we had a kicking talent problem. Oh well. The problem should be solved if Wile commits.

I think you mean excellent prospect, we won't know if he's an,"excellent kicker" untill we see him play at Mich.

The kicker out of San Diego, Wile, sounds like a good fit. Four generations of Michigan Med School is a record that their family has to be proud of. It's also encouraging that he talks like he has his head on the right way. No fake promises. No false emotions about how he feels about Michigan. This will be an important "get" for Coach Hoke and the football team. I would err on the side of caution regarding his long range kicking at this point though. There's never been 111,111 screaming fans waiting on the accuracy of his foot before but he's been preparing for several years to kick in college and that's a huge plus. I do remember someone taking me to task when I suggested Michigan going out and getting another kicker. Well, I'll stand my ground. We need improvement and additional depth at ALL positions so let the trial by competition begin. Go Blue!
