Michigan freshman defenseman Jacob Trouba named to All-CCHA first team
The awards keep piling in: after being named one of the top rookies in the CCHA, Michigan freshman defenseman Jacob Trouba was named to the All-CCHA first team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Jacob Trouba led CCHA defensemen with 10 goals and 15 assists.
Trouba leads all CCHA defensemen with 10 goals and 25 points. His 15 assists is second among defensemen. Trouba was one of only two players to receive eight first-place votes, along with Miami’s Austin Czarnik. The team is selected by the league’s coaches.
Trouba’s partner on defense, junior Mac Bennett, was named All-CCHA honorable mention.
The selection comes two days after Trouba was named to the league’s All-Rookie team. Wolverines forward Cristoval “Boo” Nieves was named an All-Rookie honorable mention.
The Wolverines will open their three-game CCHA quarterfinal series at Western Michigan Friday, 6:35 p.m. Game 2 Saturday and the if-necessary game Sunday are both scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
