After tying the game in the bottom of the ninth and 10th innings, the Michigan baseball team had no answer for a two-run home run by IUPU-Fort Wayne's Carter DeBoe and the Wolverines lost their home opener, 8-6, on Friday at Ray Fisher Stadium.
Michigan rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
Sophomore outfielder Michael O'Neill tied the game at 5-5 with a single to left that scored pinch runner Derek Dennis. Both teams added a run in the tenth inning.
O'Neill had three hits and two RBIs for Michigan (9-12) and freshman Will Drake drove in two runs on two hits.
The teams continue their weekend series with 1:05 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday.
