WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The University of Michigan men's gymnastic team turned in a season-best score on the vault, its last rotation at Thursday night's NCAA National Qualifier, and passed Oklahoma to claim the highest team total among both sessions.

The No. 3-ranked Wolverines outscored No. 2 Oklahoma 359.8 to 356.4 and also topped the score that defending champion Stanford posted in the afternoon session at Army's Christl Arena.

They'll be the top seed at Friday's NCAA Championships. Oklahoma, California, Stanford, Illinois and Ohio State will join Michigan in the team finals, which begin at 7 p.m.

MGoBlue.com reports that seniors Kent Caldwell and David Chan posted Michigan's highest scores in the decisive vault event, 16.000 and 15.950, respectively.
