Michigan men's tennis blanks Western Michigan; Eastern Michigan wrestling sweeps at Wendy's Duals and more

The Michigan men's tennis team made quick work of Western Michigan, shutting out the Broncos 7-0 in the Wolverines' dual-match opener Saturday night inside the U-M Varsity Tennis Center.

Michigan's No. 28-ranked doubles team, Jason Jung and Evan King, submitted the most convincing win with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. Jung and King also each won straight-set singles matches.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Toledo 72, Eastern Michigan 56: The Eagles shot just 33.9 percent from the field in a MAC West home loss to the Rockets. Tavelyn James and Cassie Schrock led EMU with 13 points apiece. ( Story)

MEN'S BASKETBALL Concordia 87, Cornerstone 84 (OT): Austin Cook led the Cardinals (11-8) with 21 points. Concordia trailed by two points at halftime before closing the gap and forcing overtime, where Cardinals outscored Cornerstone 15-12 for the win.

WRESTLING Eastern Michigan 29, Olivet 6; EMU 53, Campbell 0; EMU 43, Gardner-Webb 3: The Eagles racked up 10 pins on the way to a sweep of their competition at the 22nd annual Wendy's Duals. ( Story)

MEN'S SWIM & DIVE Michigan 141, Eastern Michigan 98: In their home opener, the Wolverines sink the Eagles, led by seniors Tony Wahl and Evan Gregg, who posted two wins apiece. ( Story | Story)

WOMEN'S SWIM & DIVE Michigan 155, Northwestern 145; U-M 182, Notre Dame 117: Wins in three of the last four events lifted the Wolverines to a pair of wins. Adrienne Bicek led the way with wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle. ( Story)

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD Ohio State 88, Michigan 74: In "The Dual," Michigan's Carl Buchanon (60-meter hurdles) and Jack Greenlee (pole vault) set meet records during a loss to the host Buckeyes. ( Story)

Central Michigan Invite: Anchored by Kevin Lanier, who won the high jump and helped the 4x400-meter relay take first, Eastern Michigan topped Central Michigan, Detroit, Oakland and Aquinas. ( Story)

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD Ohio State 83, Michigan 78: Despite dominating the distance events, the Wolverines were edged by the Buckeyes, who commanded the sprint and field events. ( Story)

Bob Eubanks Open: Eastern Michigan's Amber Hutson won the 5,000-meter run and five other Eagles followed suit during a non-team scoring meet in Allendale. ( Story)

WOMEN'S TENNIS Michigan Invite: Michigan won six singles matches, highlighted by Denise Muresan topping No. 6-ranked Denise Dry of Washington, and three double matches on the first day of competition. ( Story) Eastern Michigan 7, Morehead State 0: The Eagles bounced back after a season-opening loss to Marshall. In singles, EMU had two matches go beyond two sets. ( Story)
