Michigan still waiting on Justin Turner, Adrian Witty to be eligible
Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez said on WTKA-AM (1050) this morning that freshmen defensive backs Justin Turner and Adrian Witty have not yet been cleared to begin practice by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Turner, a five-star prospect by Scout.com, was expected to vie for immediate playing time in the secondary. Rodriguez said he's still hopeful Turner will be cleared by the time practice opens Monday.
"We're still waiting on Justin Turner to get some information in," Rodriguez said. "Hopefully that'll be in, we're hoping before Sunday. They said within a week."
Rodriguez said Witty, a cornerback prospect from Deerfield Beach, Fla., "is kind of in limbo now" while Michigan waits on the results of a test score.
The rest of Michigan's incoming freshman class is qualified and on campus.
The Wolverines are extremely thin in the secondary, and especially at the cornerback position. Donovan Warren and Boubacar Cissoko are expected to start at the corners. Troy Woolfolk, who played a reserve role last year, has moved to safety.

Turner and Whitty would be nice. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. I think brandon Smith is going to have alot of playing time this year, and also Woolfok.

Oh, [bleep]. Besides Forcier and possibly D Rob, Turner is the freshman I feel has the best chance to have a major impact this season. I hope he and Witty both make it.
