Michigan women's soccer wins, Eastern Michigan ties on senior day and more Sunday results
The University of Michigan women's soccer got goals in the first five minutes of each half to win 2-1 at Indiana on Sunday.
Senior Amanda Bowery scored in the first half and junior Clare Stachel in the second to give the Wolverines (7-2-4, 2-1-2 Big Ten) a 2-0 lead. Orianica Velasquez scored on a penalty kick for Indiana (4-10-1, 0-6-0) in the 72nd minute.
The Wolverines have won back-to-back conference games for the first time since 2006.
WOMEN'S SOCCER Eastern Michigan 1, Western Michigan 1: Western Michigan outshot the Eagles by a 24-8 margin on senior day in Ypsilanti, but settled for a tie. Senior Paige Sheridan scored a first-half goal for EMU (8-5-4, 5-0-3 MAC), her fourth in as many games. Anina Cicerone tied it in the 61st minute for WMU (7-6-3, 3-2-3 MAC).
MEN'S GOLF Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate: Michigan freshman Joey Garber finished tied for second and the Wolverines tied for fifth overall at the 14-team, three-day tournament at The Ridges Golf and Country Club in Jonesborough, Tenn. The Wolverines started the final round in 10th place. Garber finished with a three-round total of 210, seven strokes behind medalist Mackenzie Hughes of Kent State. Virginia won the team title.
