Michigan's Brandon Minor named to Doak Walker watch list
Michigan running back Brandon Minor was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list Tuesday.
Minor is one of 45 running backs on the list, and one of three Big Ten backs along with Wisconsin's John Clay and Ohio State's Dan Herron. The Doak Walker Award is given to the nation's top running back every year.
Last year, Minor ran for 533 yards and nine touchdowns in four starts. He battled a wrist injury late in the season, but still seemed to stabilize the Wolverines backfield when in uniform. He topped 100 yards rushing against Penn State (117 on 23 carries) and Purdue (155 on 24).
On Monday, former Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallett was among 33 players named to the Davey O'Brien watch list. No Michigan quarterbacks were on that list.
One glaring omission from the Doak Walker list: Penn State leading rusher Evan Royster.

If Brandon Minor stays healthy and holds onto the ball, he should have a big year. He's a very talented, experienced back, plus the O-line should be much improved this year. The running game needs to carry Michigan for a while this year until our passing and defense catch up.

...and RR will win Coach of the Year. One of the two, TForce or DRob, will also be invited to the Heisman ceremony. It's gonna be a great year for Michigan!

I expect Minor to have breakout year. I believe he has a chip on his shoulder as should the rest of the wolverines and run hard. The backfield and o-line is the key to this offense, which will make it easier for the quarterback to adjust to the speed of the game. GO BLUE!!!!

The Doak Walker would be a major accomplishment for Minor.
