Michigan's Craig Forys runner-up in steeplechase at NCAA championships
Michigan's Craig Forys finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Drake University.
The fifth-year senior earned All-America status by finishing in 8:40.66. Princeton's Donn Cabral won in 8:35.44.
The Michigan women's team had three individuals earn second-team All-America honors at the three-day event. Kiley Tobel finished 10th in the pole vault, Emily Pendleton 12th in the shot put and Jillian Smith 13th in the 1,500-meter run.
The Michigan men's 4x400 relay team of Nick Neuman, Aaron Taylor, Matthew Campbell and Philip Washington finished 19th, garnering honorable mention All-America status.
EMU’s Terefe Ejigu was 22nd in the 5,000-meter run and Donald Scott 23rd in the triple jump. Asia Rawls, the Eagles’ lone women’s team qualifier, finished 23rd in the 400 hurdles.

Too bad a little more wasn't added to the Craig Forys story. Two weeks ago, he won the Big 10 Steeplechase race in 8:28.9 and set a meet record. I believe he's also heading to the U.S. Olympic Track Trials in the Steeplechase event coming up in another few weeks and has a shot of earning a spot on the U.S. Olypmic track team if he can finish 3rd or better.
